Making chords
Having listened to the way that Harmonic Series partials appeared in the warm-up of Video 1, participants explore within their voices the pitches of the chords available over the originally sustained fundamental. This establishes confident location of the tonic, as well as providing experience of the mechanism by which chord inversion will be introduced at a later stage. Note the employment of the ‘quixote’ spiral gesture that encourages participants to explore the chord being performed by exchanging pitches while continuing to listen to their role in the harmonic array.
